The history of Color Resolutions International is long and colorful – no pun intended. Our roots go back to 1870 and the ink manufacturing and distribution giant Borden Chemical. In the 1980’s the maturing printing ink business saw many customers centralize their purchasing, resulting in tighter margins. Borden wisely reorganized its operations around a central manufacturing facility to serve as the control point for a network of strategically located blending sites. Color Resolutions International has continued this unique “hub and spoke” method of distribution. It assures production batch consistency and product quality and also provides printers with the localized service they require.
In the year 2000, Borden reviewed their changing business dynamics and decided the printing ink division no longer fit their long-term corporate strategy. A member of management, George Sickinger, with a strong background and knowledge of the ink systems business, put together a deal to acquire the ink division and save the jobs of over 140 employees.
On November 22, 2000, George Sickinger founded Color Resolutions International. He and six senior managers, each highly experienced in ink technology, printing applications, customer service, sales and marketing became the owners of the company. All remain with CRI today and have played an instrumental role in the growth and success of the company.
The focus of Color Resolutions International is, and will continue to be the customer, the hundreds of top quality printers and professionals who bring us all fine graphics packaging, labels and envelopes used by consumers every day.
CRI is all about making color…true to life.
